HSBC Picks Aperture Management Tool

HSBC has selected Aperture Technologies' software for capacity planning and management of its data center network.

Global banking company HSBC Holdings plc said today that it has selected Aperture Technologies' software for capacity planning and management of its data center network, which includes 22 data centres in 10 countries. Aperture's VISTA 500 enables organisations to visually manage their data center environment at a glance, including space, power, cooling, network, and storage. HSBC said its implementation of VISTA 500 (PDF) will begin this year and is expected to be complete worldwide by 2009.

"Having accurate, consistent and readily available knowledge of your data centre inventory and what you have running where, together with your power, cooling and space capacity is not easy to achieve," said Edward Case, a Senior Business Consultant with the Global Data Centre Services organisation at HSBC. "VISTA will provide a central repository, so we can see this information both on a data center basis and globally. VISTA will also bring consistency to our processes for managing data centres."

"The physical infrastructure of the data center is becoming increasingly complex," said William Clifford, CEO of Aperture. "For organizations that want to keep centers running at peak efficiency, who have centers nearing capacity or who are embarking on data center build projects, it is essential that they understand their resource use today."
