Google Hires Oracle Vet for Lenoir Site
Google has hired industry veteran Tom Jacobik as Operations Manager at its Lenoir, North Carolina data center project, the company said this week. Jacobik has been serving as Director, Tactical Operations at Oracle for the past three years, and before that was the director of hosting network operations for Savvis Communications, and director of Texas data center operations for Exodus Communications.
“Tom has created a name for himself as an IT problem solver and leader,” Andy Johnson, Google’s East Coast regional manager, said in a statement. “This appointment is crucial to the success of the data center.”
Google will invest $600 million in the Lenoir data center, one of four new projects the company has announced this year. For more, read the coverage from the Raleigh News and Observer.
