Google executives recently toured the University of Nebraska’s Omaha campus to discuss job opportunities at a Google data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa [1], which is expected to be announced at a news conference tomorrow. The Nebraska trip was reported by the Des Moines Register [2], which said the Omaha satellite office of the university hopes to establish a relationship with Google if it sets up shop in nearby Council Bluffs. Google is actively seeking data center employees [3]in at least 11 different geographic markets as it continues to expand its network.

Gov. Chet Culver of Iowa has schedule a press conference in Council Bluffs Tuesday morning to announce a “significant economic development project,” which is expected to be a new Google data center. The 180-acre site of the Google operation will be northwest of U.S. Highway 275 and South 11th Street, according to local media.
