Google's Green Group Targets Power Supplies
Another day, another high-profile corporate green computing announcement. Today’s unveiling of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative was jam-packed with A-list industry heavyweights including Google, Intel, Dell, EDS, HP, IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft, PG&E, and the Environmental Protection Agency. The group’s mission is to “brings together industry, consumers and conservation organizations to significantly increase the energy efficiency of computers and servers.”
The group is focusing on energy-efficient power supplies for home computers and servers, with a target of 90 percent energy efficiency. Google senior vice president of operations Urs H
