Last Mile Offers 'Mini Data Centers'

Last Mile Connections is introducing a "Mini Data Center" offering for customers seeking private data centers, with space available in six major markets.

Bandwidth exchange provider Last Mile Connections is introducing a "Mini Data Center" (MDC) offering for customers seeking private data centers without investing in construction and maintenance. The centers, available in Los Angeles (530 West 6th St.), Chicago (600 South Federal), Dallas (400 South Akard), Washington D.C. (1120 Vermont), Atlanta (56 Marietta St.) and Miami (200 SE First St.), offer between 2,400 and 8,000 square feet of turnkey data center space in each location.

The MDC units are customized to house mission critical computer systems. Last Mile provides security, environmental controls (including air conditioning and fire suppression) and redundant, backup power supplies. As an additional benefit, LMC offers a limited supply of racks and cabinets at no extra cost.

Jersey City-based Last Mile says it provides "connectivity on demand" with network providers including AT&T, AboveNet, Comcast, Verizon and XO. The company says the mini data center facilities are ideal for enterprises seeking disaster recovery solutions, and web hosting providers looking to quickly expand their footprint in key markets.

"At Last Mile Connections, we believe the MDC answers the market needs for high-quality, built out facilities at competitive prices with rapid time-to-market," said Ron LeMay, the CEO and President of Last Mile Connections. "Instead of investing in customer-built facilities, MDC customers can now manage their own data center connections with the peace of mind of being in a secure and cost-effective LMC environment."
