eHarmony Expands Presence at Equinix

Online dating site eHarmony will expand the company's operations at Equinix with a new deployment at Equinix's Washington, D.C. area data center.

Online dating site eHarmony will expand the company's operations at Equinix with a new deployment at Equinix's Washington, D.C. area data center. The move follows a similar deployment at Equinix's Los Angeles Internet Business eXchange (IBX) center. eHarmony says it has more than 13 million users.

"Our Web operations serve as a critical link between eHarmony and our customers and we have the highest standards for site performance, reliability and speed," said Mark Douglas, vice president of technology at eHarmony. "Our deployments at Equinix enable us to more efficiently link to the networks that serve our end-users, providing enhanced redundancy while reducing networking costs by leveraging the efficiencies of operating within the same center as our strategic partners."

"By outsourcing with Equinix, companies, such as eHarmony, can implement a highly-advanced network interconnection infrastructure without the time, expense and expertise requirements of managing it internally, enabling them to focus on their core business," said Margie Backaus, chief business officer of Equinix.

Equinix has IBX centers in 11 markets in the U.S. and Asia, allowing customers to directly interconnect with every major global network and ISP for their critical peering, transit and traffic exchange requirements.
