Power and Cooling at Phoenix ONE
June 16th, 2009 : Rich MillerThe Phoenix ONE data center requires industrial strength power and cooling infrastructure. The facility has a 7,000 ton chilled water plant, backed by a thermal storage system providing up to 24,000 ton hours of cooling. The site is served by one 42 megawatt substation and will soon add a second. Phoenix ONE has ten 2 megawatt UPS systems, and sixteen 2.25 megawatt generators. When the second phase is added, those totals will double to 32 generators. Here’s a look at the power and cooling infrastructure.

The facility is currently backed by eight 2.25 megawatt generators, and will use 32 Caterpillar gensets at completion.
